Days 3-10: Recap

I really wanted to write a well thought out, entertaining entry, but I'm on empty, and exhausted, sorry =/

I used my official cheat meal on Valentines Day, eating a salted caramel waffle, and potatoes for breakfast. A coke and a box of Sugar Babies followed me to the theater, however I only drank half of my soda...

Clearly I was getting sick.

Dinner was on the healthier side, and my end weight for the week was 200.5lbs. This is a 3.5lb decrease from my new Day 1 starting weight, and is primarily the initial affects of detoxing I assume, but maybe that doesn't exist and I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure the next however many pounds will be harder to lose as I get slightly closer to optimal weight.

The next day I was verrrrrry sick with Chicago's latest epidemic. Sore throat, stuffed nose, can't swallow, can't sleep. I worked three of these days for very large chunks of time, and didn't plan my meals out with much thought, but ate more on the good side than bad. I assume the .5lbs I lost over the last 4 days is boogerweight, but I will take it.

My eating has become boring at best, and I need some new ideas. I'm tired.

Day 2

It's Drinking Bleach or This

When I started this journal a few years back, I was already a month into my shiny new dietary routine, and had already repressed the immediate affects of my change in meal plans, so this is good, right?

My head is throbbing from caffeine withdrawal, I had to turn down free pepperoni pizza at work my first day back, and my bladder is in some state of advanced self-conspiring possession - speaking in tongues, writhing, and totally fixated on me pissing myself bi-hourly. Fucking sucks. If it weren't for the compulsion to sex my girlfriend out in the streets, while appearing presentable, I'd be searching for part time work at Sbarro.

My friend David and I are hopeless without written accountability, and during our knitting bee, after going on for many hours about Heidi Klum and SEAL calling it quits, we decided to get un-fat ( I mean, SEAL is single again, amirite?). I'm 204lbs which isn't atrocious compared to my starting weight of 215 a few years back, relatively speaking, but relatively speaking is ogrish when I used to be a rather good-looking 190lb-er. I mean, this is not muscle I put on. So, here are the new stats, and what I brought with me to eat while I worked all day ( not remotely ideal ):

Heh, so I took in 1,595 of the 2,636 calories I need to maintain weight which is a 1,041k deficit. Ideally we are between 500-800, so this is far too much, and I'm starving. I worked from 4pm-4am, and packed what I had on me, but it wasn't much. Heading to the store now so I'm not trying to eat other peoples food at work by smelling really hard. I'll probably just do some home type workouts while I detox this first week, and then start back up at LA Boxing.

Day 1 in the books.

Well shit, I need this again!

After the last entry, I had just begun a love affair with my very own legs. I could sense it's permanency, but also that my legs might not be enough, and my elbows and knees were going to have to be thrown into the mix or things could get stale. Kickboxing overtook Boxing, and Muay Thai was looking pretty hot. The shitty thing about this is that Boxing, exclusively Boxing, or exclusively anything that involves a certain limb and its adjoining parts, is such a demanding workout, and a workout was what I was initially doing this for. Fortunately, I suppose, I didn't need to put in much leg work ( although Kickboxing IS excellent ab work ), and taking away from the more intense Boxing only workouts by incorporating legs makes me feel like I have lost something. I'm cluttering things up, it's just that I've never really been good at finding a strong balance, and I'd hate to settle for a mediocre one, although I suppose I'm getting away from this being a workout, and thinking more about the sport aesthetic, so fuck me, right?

It's irrelevant anyhow as I haven't done jack-shit since I've moved. I'm about an hour away from my old gym via trains and buses ( was 5 min walk ), and 30mins or so from a different one that I like less. I have gone, but not as frequently, and it tends to take up a good chunk of my day since:

- It's far, so I feel forced to stay there longer and try to make the most of my commute
- I'm far, so I don't see my "gym friends" as often, which leads to time spent playing catch up

Moving also had me knocked off of my normal dietary routines, stemming from an inability to immediately prioritize despite the familiarity issues that come from living in a new location. I can get fucking lazy when my little rituals need reshaping. Like, my grocery store is closer now than it was, wtf. I know it's no excuse, but having a roommate again, and sharing that common space was a reluctance to use the kitchen for me, and it's not a knock on him because he's a really good guy, it's just one of those things. Maybe I'm bad at living when I'm not living alone? I mean, I know I'm weird. Meh...

Aside from that, my normal job of internet pokering has been locked away by the government, so I've spent more time traveling over to the casino in Indiana, and private games around the city ( Chicago ), which is sooo lame, in order to avoid getting a regular job again, although I indefinitely should just get one. I was in Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker for the entire month of June, and destroyed my body as much as possible without adding alcohol/drugs into the mix. My friend David and I only made it to an LA Boxing once throughout the duration, so my cardio looks like a giant frown, and my beautiful tan was erased by a siege of processed air vents and perma nightowlism.

After returning, my girlfriend introduced me to the wondrous grubhub.com, and cooked me a few batches of tasty pasta, prompting me to cook lots of tasty pasta for myself. It would be fair to say that I'm not on point these days =) A redeeming fact is that I really did do a lot of work prior to the move, and I wasn't atrocious pre Vegas, so all will be well, but there is work to be done.

Chapter 3 day 8

Sore this morning. My legs haven't fully recovered from explosive exercises over the last few weeks, but the plan is to see if I can fight through Rob's absurdly brutal class...if he's teaching today, that is. Part of me is just curious to see if some percentage of the class just doesn't show after what they were put through last Wednesday.

So I walk to the gym kind of crossing my fingers that Rob wont be teaching today, and he's the first thing I see when I look in the window. At least I got to come to terms with it quick. His class is absurd as per usual, but I knew what to expect, so it wasn't as much a shock to my system this time. I was actually sort of surprised it was over so soon since last weeks seemed like it would never end. Still, such a dirty dirty workout.

Afterwords I sat and caught up with trainer/friend Aaron. and basically confided that I feel like a fake walking in there these days. I realize I signed up for this for the conditioning, and to get in shape, and I feel like as far as classes go I'm an okay example, and I'm accomplishing my initial volition, but I'm really not progressing at all as a fighter. Too much ego. I need to drop it and start at least doing some kickboxing/muay thai/mitt work, and then sparring. So that's next week's goal: At least one class besides boxing.

Furthermore, I really need to start getting some food in my system immediately after class, or at least a shake of some sort.

Chapter 3 day 6 & 7

Monday I had friends in from St Louis, and we ate a ton of pasta. I wouldn't know where to start from a caloric standpoint, so I'm going to regrettably make this my cheat meal/overfeed for the week and move ahead to Tuesday.

Chapter 3 day 3

Woke up and did short abs cycle and stretched my legs a ton. Leg lifts absolutely killed b/c of Wednesday's class. Not really sure how to calculate this log as I was awake the better part of 24 hours bc of work, so I ate a ton. Though I suppose it's all one day, and I guess I should treat it as such. This will most likely be an overfeed then, but all pretty healthy stuff.
